Is India Really The Most Dangerous and Most Unsafe Destination for A Women to Travel ?

While browsing through the Internet I read that India is dangerous place for women. There is more chance of getting harassed in India  than any other place.

I am on many forums and read mixed bag of reply. It seems to me that most biased replies are from those who have never been to India and giving their verdict on the basis of what they heard on internet or on news.

None of them has any data or have done any statistical analysis to show that India is Most dangerous. While some people said India is most dangerous place for women, while others said north India is most dangerous place.

As a traveler This got me going. I started to my research. First thing I found what there were two type of people in the crowd. People who visited India and experienced India by themselves and people who never visited India and are biased.

People who visited India had mixed views ranging from very positive to very negative. While People who did not visit India had most negative view.

Many people who visited India shared that many of their negative and bad experience could have been avoided if they had not became complacent and watched their back.

I firmly believe that our safety is in our own hand, it does not matter where we live, where we travel.

I am not saying that India does not have problems but India is certainly not as negative as it is portrayed to be.

Further on the basis of subjective opinion some tourist said they felt south to be safer , some said west to be safer.

Let's see the statics to really know once and for all what is the truth. How unsafe India is and how unsafe north India.

First let's deal with India is most unsafe country for a women, and there is high chance of women getting harassed and assaulted.

Countries with highest crime against women.

Source https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/rape-statistics-by-country

If we see the statics from that it is evident that India is not the most unsafe country for women. Statistically speaking there is more chance of women getting assaulted and harassed in many developed countries and western countries than in India.

Most unsafe destination within India.

Many tourist and many Indians think that Goa and other southern part is safer and north and central India are relatively unsafe.

What is the reality ?

Source  https://ncrb.gov.in

According to Government of India and statics.

On the basis of multi year average

Most unsafe place for women in India are Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan.

South Indian destination are not as safe as portrayed or claimed to be.

Popular destination such as Goa and Kerala is not Safer than West Bengal or Uttar Pradesh.

So a a tourist one should not fall for Politics, rivalry and competition and should rely on data Instead.

I am Not here to promote India or places within India.

I am here to give realistic and objective facts backed by data. I am just trying to be objective and trying to displace the unwanted biases and negativity.

I am not telling anyone to go or not to go India. Use your brain and use your discretion and decide it by yourself.

Every country has its nuisances and tourist should be mindful of them before traveling there.

In the end I will again stress, irrespective of place you go and visit, remember your safety in your own hands. So be careful and watch your back and do not become complacent.

A Female's Guide to Safer Travel. Especially To Culturally Different Country.

No two countries are same, but some countries can be radically different. Countries from same regions are usually similar. and countries from different region are usually different. To demonstrate what I mean. Most countries in Europe have similar culture and values. Say than in South East Asia or Middle East.

Suppose you are a young couples from Europe and Go to Dubai. Even if you are a husband and wife, showing closeness and affection in Public Places can lead to trouble. Even hand holding of your Partner could land you in Jail. Similarly, you can invite trouble by sharing room with your boy friend.

Knowing basics of a country can save you from getting into trouble. Only way to Avoid unwanted trouble is knowing the basic customs. So I came up with some basic recommendations which you might consider following irrespective of place.

What I write is not just applicable to girls but also to boys. I tried to be come up with universal recommendations. If you traveling, knowing these and following them can make a difference in your Journey.

Before you start your journey, make sure to.

  • Get a Mobile Phone with International Roaming.
  • Get a Local Mobile Number from Airport even if it seems expensive, Do not wait to get it outside. Many times you just might not be able to get it outside.
  • Have Local Police Contact Details (Social Media and Phone).
  • Have Your Embassy's Contact Details (Social Media and Phone).
  • Have contact details of prominent National News Media and also  Local News Media of that Country.  (Social Media and Phone).
  • Familiarize yourself with Basic Customs of the Country, do some research before going there.
Once in Foreign Country, Remember that Foreign Laws Apply, So.

  • If scammed, cheated, harassed or threatened. Immediately Approach or Contact Local Law Enforcement Authorities and News Media.
  • Beware of thieves and scammers.
  • Avoid conflicts and arguments with others.
  • Avoid swearing.
  • Avoid being critical.
  • Do not do what is not legal, even if it is not well enforced.
  • Do proper research before going to a place or an area.
  • Do not go to secluded and isolated places with strangers or alone.
  • Do not accept food or drink from strangers.
  • Do not go to bar or club with strangers or alone.
  • Do not drink Alcohol with Strangers.
  • Do not wear provocative clothes or skin revealing clothes.
  • When in doubt. Wear formal clothes or traditional clothes
  • Always share your current location with your friends and relatives.
  • Always share details regarding mode of transport with your friends and relatives.
For Islamic and Muslim Countries. Apart from what has already been mentioned above.
  1. Do not share room with men, even if they are your boy friend.
  2. Do not wear short, sleeveless clothes. Get clothes that completely covers your body.
  3. Do not Drink Alcohol without License.
Your safety and security is in your hand, so be be wise, choose wisely and act wisely. Taking something lightly and for granted in best case scenario can cause just some problems but in worst case can leave you with life long regret.

I wish everyone A Safe and A Memorable Journey.

Let's Explore India Together In 2022.

 Hello,

Since there is a hyper inflation due to political issues and climatic conditions things are a little more expensive right now. Considering everything and factoring in inflation 70 Euros per head per day would be enough for a solo traveler. A 21 day trip would cost around 1500 Euro per head.

You might wonder, how I calculated the Price. Here is the list.

    b. 10 Euros Non Veg
Lodging-

    c. Cabs -  Approximately 3 Euros 5 Km

Ready for a cultural shock ? Ready for something different?

Most of the Indian trip is focused on Golden triangle or big cities, but this will bit a bit different, which tries to balance everything.

Tour shall start from Delhi. We can meet in India or We can also fly together from Poland, Warsaw to India.

I shall stay in India for around 3 Weeks and must go back because of Job. Anyone wants to stay there for longer can stay for longer.

Due to extreme heat and humidity from April to September. I think October to march are the Ideal months to travel India. My plan for this year is in between October to December. Arrival date is yet to be fixed we can discuss about it.

To head start I already have shortlisted places to visit. Itinerary is kept flexible and we can discuss and plan accordingly. Date and Itinerary are preliminary and are flexible until finalized.

People can split the cost equally among themselves for mutually agreed activities. For personal and different individual activities everyone pays for themselves.

Searching for flexible travel partners who are looking for an adventure, fun and wishes to relax.

If you have got any question feel free to ask.
